Moon Hyeongtae

Gana Art Nineone is pleased to present Moon Hyeongtae’s solo exhibition, 《HYEONGTAE MOON》, opening October 27th. Moon is skillful at embodying objects, easily found in our daily lives, with a dreamy atmosphere through his wit and intentional distortion. He has a deep connection with Gana Art as a residency artist at Gana Art Atelier, and Gana Art introduces his advanced artworks accordingly. His painting stands out as its colorful tone, description of the character’s face which seems like an expression of inner feelings, and noticeable matière—stressing the sense of touch. His work is, moreover, achieved by a mixture of the soil and water, repeatedly covering and skimming it, so that the canvas is surrounded by the yellow color and warmth. The artist also has indicated his willingness to change his style at this exhibition by employing rougher lines and deeper colors for the emphasis of the texture on canvas, blurring out shapes by exploiting blunt outlines on purpose. 《HYEONGTAE MOON》 will gently guide the audience into his maturity, providing a pleasure that turns our ordinary day into a wonderful miracle along with the imaginative narrative the artist suggests.

문형태

가나아트 나인원은 일상적 소재를 재치와 비틀기를 통해 몽환적 화면으로 구현하는 문형태의 개인전 《HYEONGTAE MOON》을 개최한다. 이번 전시는 현재 장흥 가나아틀리에 레지던시 작가로서 인연을 이어가고 있는 문형태 작가와의 첫번째 협업으로, 원숙해진 그의 조형세계를 알리고자 하는 의도에서 기획되었다. 문형태의 회화에는 화사한 색채, 내면의 감정을 드러낸 듯한 해체된 안면 묘사, 촉각적 질감을 부각시킨 마티에르가 돋보인다. 또한 황토와 물을 섞어 캔버스에 입히고 이를 걷어낸 후 그리는 독특한 작업 방식으로 인해 은은한 황토색이 만들어내는 따스한 기운이 작품 주위를 감돈다는 점도 독창적이다. 특히 이번 전시의 출품작에는 작가의 변화를 향한 의지도 드러나는데, 거친 선과 짙은 색상을 사용함으로써 화면의 질감을 더욱 부각시키고 동시에 작품 속 대상의 경계를 뭉개어 형체를 모호하게 보이도록 만든 것이 이를 방증한다. 가나아트는 본 전시를 통해 한층 더 성숙해진 문형태의 작품을 소개하고, 그가 펼치는 상상의 내러티브를 따라 평범한 일상도 마치 기적처럼 소중해지는 즐거움을 대중들에게 선사하고자 한다.
