Gana Art Nineone is pleased to present ≪Reflections: Open Ended≫ bringing 14 artists with the most vibrant voices in today’s contemporary art world followed by the group exhibition ≪Reflections≫ which was held in 2019. In second partnership with filmmaker and curator Matt Black, the exhibition maintains the title “Reflections” in the sense of reflecting contemporary art trends, and aims to demonstrate its commitment to future Reflections series embracing the idea of limitless possibilities of freedom and beauty by adding “Open Ended” as its subtitle. By a dictionary definition of ‘reflection,’ the exhibition is a reflection of artists, works, and contemporary art itself. Curator Matt Black states, “The 14 artists’ works connect us back to nature, to pleasure, to what makes us human. With total confidence in their own world they invite us to linger in it. There is no hierarchy, no artifice, no limits or boundaries, no line in the sand… Open Ended.” This exhibition will be a chance to see the latest trends in the mainstream of art through the works of those who are very active with their unique point of view and theme, and to see works that are currently popular in the art market relatively easily in Korea.

가나아트 나인원은 2019년 가나아트센터와 가나아트 한남에서 열렸던 ≪Reflections≫전에 이어 동시대 미술 현장에서 주목받고 있는 14인의 작가를 초청하는 ≪Reflections: Open Ended≫ 를 개최한다. 지난 전시에 참가하여 많은 주목을 받았던 브라이언 캘빈(Brian Calvin), 에디 강(Eddie Kang), 켈티 페리스(Keltie Ferris)는 물론, 힐러리 페시스(Hilary Pecis), 휴고 맥클라우드(Hugo McCloud), 제나 그리븐(Jenna Gribbon), 캐서린 번하드(Katherine Bernhardt), 마르셀 드자마(Marcel Dzama)와 같이 현재 미술시장에 커다란 이슈를 만들고 있는 주요 작가들을 대거 초대하였다. 영상 제작자이자 큐레이터인 맷 블랙(Matt Black)과의 두 번째 협업인 본 전시는 동시대 미술의 흐름을 반영한다는 의미에서 “Reflections”라는 제목을 유지하고, 부제로 “Open Ended”를 덧붙여 미래를 향해 열려 있는, 확장성을 지닌 전시로서 앞으로의 Reflections 전시에 대한 의지를 내비치고자 한다. 현대 미술에서 중요한 위치를 차지하고 있는 유명 작가들의 작품과 함께 해외에서 화제에 오른 작가들의 작품을 한자리에서 만날 수 있는 본 전시는 세계 미술 시장에서 인기가 높은 작품들을 국내에서 비교적 손쉽게 실견할 수 있는 절호의 기회가 될 것이다.
