Companionship: 40 Years with Gana Art

Gana Art is pleased to present Companionship: 40 Years with Gana Art with 23 artists who have been with the gallery for 40 years. This is an exhibition marking the 40th anniversary of our founding, following 1983-2023, 40 Years with Gana Art held in February of last year. While the previous exhibition took a look back on the gallery’s achievements thus far by presenting archives and major artworks of our collections, this exhibition visualizes the identity and future of Gana Art, focusing on the work of artists. Gana Art’s challenges and innovations, which have continued for 40 years from 1983 to the present, were possible thanks to the active participation of artists. Gana Art hopes that this exhibition will be an opportunity to look back on the path we have taken with numerous artists and seek new breakthroughs for the development of Korean art.

동행(同行): 가나아트와 함께 한 40년

가나아트는 갤러리의 40년 세월을 함께 한 작가 23인과 함께 《동행(同行): 가나아트와 함께 한 40년》을 개최한다. 본 전시는 지난 해 2월 열렸던 《1983-2023 가나화랑-가나아트》에 이어 가나아트의 40년을 돌아보는 전시다. 앞선 전시가 아카이브 및 소장품을 소개하며 가나아트가 지금의 자리에 있기까지 다져온 40년의 역사를 돌아보았다면, 이번 전시는 40년의 시간을 함께 걸어온 작가들의 작업을 중심으로 가나아트의 정체성과 앞으로의 방향성을 시각화해 보이는 자리가 될 것이다. 1983년부터 현재까지 40년 간 이어져 온 가나아트의 도전과 혁신은 작가들의 적극적인 동참이 있었기에 가능했다. 가나아트는 이번 전시가 그동안 수많은 작가들과 함께해 온 동행 길을 돌아보며 한국 미술의 발전을 위한 새로운 돌파구를 모색할 자리가 되기를 희망한다.
