Hwang Ho-Sup (b. 1955) graduated from the National High School of Decorative Arts (École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs) and worked as an exclusive artist at Galerie Jean Fournier, the best art gallery in Europe at the time. Since the mid-1990s, Hwang has been developing his abstract paintings by dropping or scattering colorful acrylic paints on a canvas, washing them off with water, waiting for them to dry, and then spraying and washing them off with another color. His work, in which countless round paint marks of various colors are overlapped and entangled due to the coincidence of spraying and scattering paints, reminds us of the milky way pouring in the night sky or soap bubbles sparkling in the sunlight. Hwang’s performative work, in which he repeats drawing and erasing, is imbued with philosophical contemplation about his identity and life as a resident alien artist in France. In addition to painting, the artist also presented installation work in which he created the Buddha's face by hand-carving hundreds of thousands of copper nets and superimposed images of famous politicians or pop stars on top of them. The calm face of the Buddha overlaps with the faces of celebrities who represent today's modern and chaotic reality, meaning a variable identity and an unconcealable desire. Hwang’s works are now in Fédération Nationale d’Achats des Cadres (FNAC), Foundation Cartier, Hewlett Foundation, OECD, and National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul.

황호섭(b. 1955)은 프랑스 국립장식미술고등학교(École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs)를 졸업한 후, 당대 유럽의 최고 화랑인 장 푸르니에 갤러리(Galerie Jean Fournier)의 전속작가로 활동하며 파리, 뉴욕, 서울 등에서 국제적으로 활동했다. 1990년 중반부터 황호섭은 색색의 아크릴 물감을 캔버스 위에 떨어트리거나 흩뿌린 뒤 물로 씻어내고, 마르기를 기다렸다 또 다른 물감을 뿌리고 씻어내는 반복적인 작업을 통해 독자적인 추상회화를 발전시켜 왔다. 물감이 뿌려지고 흩어지는 우연성에 의해 다채로운 색의 동그란 물감 자국이 무수히 포개어지고 뒤엉킨 그의 작품은 마치 밤하늘의 쏟아지는 은하수나 햇살에 비쳐 반짝이는 비누 거품을 연상시키기도 한다. 그리기와 지우기를 반복하는 황호섭의 수행적 작업은 재불화가로서 자기 정체성과 삶에 대한 철학적 고민의 흔적이 배어있다. 황호섭은 회화뿐만 아니라 수백 수천의 구리 망을 손으로 다듬어 부처의 얼굴을 만들고 그 안에 유명한 정치인이나 대중스타의 이미지를 중첩하는 설치 작업 또한 선보였다. 평온한 부처의 얼굴은 현대적이고 혼란스러운 오늘날의 현실을 표상하는 유명인들의 얼굴과 포개어져 가변하는 정체성과 숨길 수 없는 욕망을 이야기한다. 황호섭의 작품은 현재 프랑스 국립현대미술재단(FNAC), 까르띠에재단(Foundation Cartier), 휴렛재단(Hewlett Foundation), OECD, 국립현대미술관 등에 소장되어 있다.
