In her poetic and ethereal creations, Murase Kyoko brings forth a world where delicate figures of girls, flowing long hair, seashells, butterflies, birds, and plants gracefully dance amidst the wind and water. Murase's artistic signature is defined by a palette of soft hues, blending pastels, oils, and pigments to evoke a sense of enchantment, luring the observer into the painting's immersive landscape. Living near a lush park in Düsseldorf, Germany, from the late 1980s until returning to Japan in 2016 laid the foundation for the artist's empathetic representation of nature. Reflecting on her process, she shares, "I engage in the repetitive act of immersing myself in the painting, juxtaposed with the objective observation from a distance." In this exhibition, Murase presents Slope, featuring a girl climbing a hill, and the three-part Green Moth series, featuring green butterflies, birds, and long hair, as well as a large-scale work Balcony (blossoms) created specifically for this exhibition. The "girl" in her work is depicted as a fairy-like being who transcends the gender of a woman, seemingly representing a being unable to live in modern society.

무라세 교코는 소녀 형상, 긴 머리카락, 조개껍질, 나비, 새, 식물 등의 피사체가 바람과 물속을 떠다니는 듯한 시적이고 부드러운 회화를 선보여왔다. 무라세의 작품은 파스텔과 오일, 안료 등 다양한 재료를 사용한 연한 색감이 특징적이며 보는 이로 하여금 회화의 풍경에 끌려들어 가는 듯한 효과를 자아낸다. 1980년대 후반부터 2016년에 일본에 귀국하기 전까지 독일 뒤셀도르프의 녹음이 우거진 공원 근처에 살았던 경험은 작가가 자연을 공감각적으로 표현하는 토대가 되었다. 작가는 “그림 속에 깊이 잠겨보기도 하고 멀리서 객관적으로 바라보기도 하는 행위를 여러 번 반복한다”고 말했다. 본 전시에서 무라세는 언덕을 오르는 소녀가 등장하는 〈슬로프〉, 녹색 나비와 새, 그리고 긴 머리카락이 등장하는 3점의 〈Green Moth〉 시리즈와 더불어 해당 전시를 위해 제작한 대형 작품 )을 선보인다. 그녀의 작품 속 ‘소녀’는 여성이라는 젠더를 뛰어넘은 요정같은 존재로 그려지며, 이는 마치 현대사회를 살아갈 수 없는 존재를 형상화한 것처럼 보이기도 한다.
