Yoo Suntai
Dreaming Objet

Gana Art is pleased to present Yoo Suntai’s solo exhibition “Dreaming Objet,” whose usage of everyday objects leads to the creation of a unique, surreal world. Yoo Suntai(b. 1957-) moved to Paris after graduating from Hongik University with a master’s degree and earned a doctorate in sculpture and art from the National University of 8. He was absorbed in the study of Oriental painting while studying abroad, and he experimented with a distinctive way of painting by merging the East and the West through his unique sensibilities. Yoo’s works feature meditative and surreal expressions based on his free imagination and sensibilities. By selecting common materials of daily life such as apples, books, watches, mirrors and frames and reconstructing them on canvas, he leads the viewers to a world of serene space and time that transcends reality. For the exhibition, Yoo displays paintings, objects, and sculptures that reflect his ego and view of life by exploiting a variety of objects. The exhibition will be an opportunity to experience the ideal world of Yoo Suntai through his various figurative languages.

유선태
꿈꾸는 오브제

가나아트는 일상의 사물을 소재로 사용하여 특유의 초현실적 세계를 구축하는 유선태의 개인전 ‘꿈꾸는 오브제’를 개최한다. 홍익대학교 석사 졸업 후, 파리 8대학에서 조형예술학 박사학위를 받은 유선태는 유학 중에도 동양화에 심취하여, 작가 특유의 감성과 동서양을 융합한 독특한 화법을 실험하였다. 이러한 유선태의 작업들은 작가의 자유로운 상상력과 감성을 바탕으로 한 명상적이면서 초현실 적인 것이 특징이다. 그는 일상에서 흔히 접할 수 있는 사과, 책, 시계, 거울, 액자 등을 소재로 선택하여 캔버스 위에 재구성함으로써 보는 이를 현실을 초월한 고요한 시공간(時空間)의 세계로 이끌고 있다. 이번 전시에서 유선태는 다양한 오브제를 활용하여 자신의 자아와 삶의 시각을 반영하는 회화, 오브제, 조각 등을 선보인다. 이로써 본 전시는 유선태의 이상 세계를 다양한 조형언어로 경험할 수 있는 기회가 될 것이다.
