Spring Story II

Gana Art is pleased to announce Spring Story II which showcases the outstanding artworks by 10 acclaimed Korean artists: Kim Whanki, Choi Wookkyung, Lee Ufan, Shim Moonseop, Park Youngnam, Oh Sufan, Lim Oksang, Kim Taeho, Yeesookyung, and Huh Myoungwook. The exhibition begins with selected highlights of one of the foremost Korean abstract artists Kim Whanki (1913-1974) and a renowned first-generation female artist Choi Wookkyung (1940-1985). The next section introduces Lee Ufan (1936-), who is among the most influential artist in the development of Korean contemporary art in conceptual and formal aspects. His paintings are shown alongside works of Shim Moonseop, an active sculptor who also earned recognition for his abstract paintings from the 2000s. Concluding the exhibition is a wide selection of artworks by contemporary artists including Kim Taeho, Park Youngnam, Oh Sufan, Yeesookyung, and Huh Myoungwook. The artists featured in Spring Story II offer a compelling examination of material and meaning embedded in their visual language. This spring, step into the inspirational world of Korean contemporary art.

봄 이야기 II

가나아트는 봄을 맞이하여 10명의 작가로 구성된 《봄 이야기 II》를 개최한다. 이번 전시에서는 한국 미술계에서 뚜렷한 자취를 남긴 김환기, 최욱경, 이우환, 심문섭, 박영남, 오수환, 임옥상, 김태호, 이수경, 허명욱, 10인 작가의 작품이 소개된다. 제1전시장에서는 한국 추상미술 1세대 작가 김환기(1913-1974)의 작업과 한국현대미술 1세대 여성 작가로 손꼽히는 최욱경(1940-1985)의 작품을 만날 수 있다. 제2전시장은 한국 현대미술의 전개에 있어 개념적, 형식적 측면에서 큰 영향을 미친 이우환(1936-)과 조각가로 왕성하게 활동하다 2000년대 이후 회화작업을 병행하고 있는 심문섭의 작품을 확인할 수 있다. 제3전시장은 좀 더 다채롭게 구성된 김태호, 박영남, 오수환, 이수경, 허명욱 작품들로 꾸며진다. 가나아트는 한국 미술계의 중요한 작가로 구성된 이번 전시를 통해 새롭게 맞이한 봄날을 한껏 음미할 수 있기를 바란다. 아울러 작년부터 시작된 코로나19(COVID-19)의 팬데믹으로 전세계적인 혼란이 가중되었음에도 불구하고 미술시장이 다시 활기를 띠고 있는 상황에서 본 전시가 ‘치유’와 ‘소통’의 매개이자 새로운 활력을 전하는 기회가 되기를 기대한다.
